Leading AI adoption and workflow playbooks for design teams

Leads AI adoption by running experiments, documenting what works, building playbooks, and teaching teammates how to integrate AI into the design workflow transparently.

Why the human is still essential here

Humans set standards, define when/where AI is appropriate, align stakeholders, and ensure the workflow supports product goals and team collaboration rather than automating blindly.

How people use this

Maintain a shared repository of proven prompts, inputs/outputs, and “when to use” notes so the team can reuse successful workflows consistently.

Notion AI / Notion

Design critique summaries and next steps

Summarize scattered feedback from async threads and reviews into clear themes and prioritized action items that designers can execute on.

ChatGPT / Slack

AI usage guidelines and playbook drafts

Draft and continuously update a team playbook covering approved tools, quality bars, and do/don’t examples, then circulate for stakeholder sign-off.

Don't Take My Bread: Job Security for Designers in the AI Wave

I'm writing this as a designer who uses AI tools every single day and is actively leading AI adoption on my team. I use AI for first drafts, exploring directions, and speeding up production, then apply human judgment to refine and make the final decisions. I also document what works and share playbooks, so our team treats AI as a tool (not a threat) while shifting my focus from maker to decision-maker.
