Can AI replace your financial advisor?

Can AI replace your financial advisor?

I get asked this a lot, especially now.

Here's my honest take.

AI can calculate. It can compare funds, run projections, even explain compounding better than most YouTube videos.

What it cannot do is sit with you when the market drops 15% in a week and every instinct says sell everything.

It cannot ask "why" three times until your real goal surfaces, not "retire early" but "actually be present while my kids are young."

It cannot push back when your college buddy's "sure shot" stock tip is burning a hole in your pocket.

If you already have an advisor:

Their real value was never the fund recommendation.

It's the conversation before you make a costly mistake, and the one after the market scares you. Think of AI as a brilliant research assistant. Not a seatbelt.

If you don't have one yet:

The cost of going it alone rarely shows up immediately.

Wrong asset allocation, panic selling, missed tax planning, no real estate or succession plan.

These mistakes compound quietly, often for decades, before you notice the gap.

AI will change how advisors work. It won't replace the relationship.

Curious where you stand on this. Drop a comment.
