Benchmarking law firm visibility in AI search

AI is used to evaluate how major AI platforms describe and recommend personal injury law firms across markets, helping firms measure discoverability before prospects ever contact them.

Why the human is still essential here

Legal teams still need to decide how to position the firm, verify findings, and translate visibility insights into compliant marketing, intake, and client-trust strategies.

How people use this

Cross-platform prompt audits

Teams run the same injury-lawyer questions across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity to see whether the firm is mentioned, how it is described, and which competitors appear instead.

Citation and mention tracking

AI visibility software monitors whether answer engines cite the firm, link to its site, or surface inaccurate summaries over time and by market.

Profound / Otterly AI

Competitor benchmark reports

LLM monitoring dashboards aggregate prompt results across cities so marketers can compare share of voice, recommendation frequency, and messaging against rival firms.

Would you trust a lawyer AI has never heard of?

Would you trust a lawyer AI has never heard of?

That's the question our team has been chasing for the last year, and it's basically what I've spent the last nine years building toward, working alongside personal injury attorneys who take care of people on the worst days of their lives.

Injured people don't call a law firm first anymore. They ask AI. What happened to me. Do I have a case. Which attorney can I trust. All before anyone at a law firm even knows they exist.

We named it: the Pre-Intake Problem. Then we built something to measure it, the AI for PI Index, which checked how AI platforms describe and recommend roughly 1,800 personal injury firms across 259 U.S. markets. We also wrote a mini-book on it, because apparently that's a thing we do now.

This week, LawSites and Reuters picked it up.

The takeaway: firms need to show up earlier, before the search, not after. And injured people deserve to find a lawyer they can trust, not just whatever shows up first.

Huge shoutout to Nick Kringas . He spent three months on this data and refused to let us publish it until it was right.

Nine years in. Still can't believe this is the job.
